Coach Product Update: December 2025
Deeper insights for advisors, stronger compliance, and a smoother first-time experience
Last month, we introduced Coach v3, our major step forward in enterprise readiness. This month, we’re back to our regular product update cadence, focused on making Coach more compliant for global deployments, more insightful for advisors, and easier for learners to get started, while continuing to experiment with live job search in beta.
Stronger for institutions: Compliance, insights, and configuration
GDPR-aligned and clearer cookie controls
Coach is now aligned with GDPR requirements, including support for data subject requests and updated cookie consent flows. Learners can review and update their cookie preferences, giving institutions stronger privacy assurances and a clearer story for their own compliance teams.
Coach is now fully GDPR compliant
Advisor insights, directly in Coach
We’ve brought advisor-facing insights directly into Coach, so front-line staff can see what’s happening with their learners without leaving the platform. Advisors can now access more data and insights, like top learner questions, engagement over time, and activity usage. This builds on earlier admin dashboards and reporting work from prior months, but brings more of that power into everyday advisor workflows.
More robust insights and reporting for advisor accounts
Partner-specific prompts across activities
Partners can now configure institution-specific prompts and guidance across activities, not just in isolated experiences. This allows Coach to mirror your institution’s language and beneficiary terminology without requiring custom versions of each activity. One early example is our work with Opportunity@Work, where Coach refers to learners as “STARs” (workers Skilled Through Alternative Routes) to align with their program language. It’s another step toward “configure, don’t custom-build,” which is critical for scalable deployments.
Smoother first steps for learners and advisors
Guided chat walkthrough and progress cues
Building on the onboarding improvements we shipped in September and October, we’ve added a short chat walkthrough that introduces key actions during a learner’s first conversation.
This makes it easier for learners and advisors to get oriented quickly and reduces the number of “how do I use this?” questions staff need to field.
Short chat walkthrough for first-time users
Clearer memory language and transparency
We’ve refined the language around chat memory and preferences so learners better understand what Coach remembers, when it updates, and how to manage or turn it off. This builds on our earlier work to make memory editable and more transparent in account settings, reinforcing our commitment to responsible, explainable use of AI.
More contextual first messages
Coach’s opening messages are now more dynamic and context-aware, adapting to the activity and partner setup. This helps each session start with clearer guidance and a more natural tone, especially when learners arrive via different entry points (standalone platform, embedded widget, or partner portal).
Updates to beta job search with NLx
We’re continuing to iterate on our live job search integration with the National Labor Exchange (NLx), which remains in beta and is still not ready for broad, high-stakes use. This month’s updates focus on making the experience more useful and coherent inside a coaching flow:
More flexible location search, so learners can look beyond a single city or ZIP.
Parsed job descriptions that pull out key details like requirements, salary, and benefits into a structured view.
Tighter chat integration, so Coach can reference the specific jobs it just showed in the conversation.
Early experimentation with ranking based on factors like education, experience, and compensation preferences.
Because this feature is still in active development, job specificity and quality remain limited, and behavior may change as we iterate. If your organization is interested in piloting the NLx experience and sharing feedback, we’d be glad to hear from you.
Coach’s job search functionality, while improved, remains in beta
Richer embedded experiences for partners
For partners using the Coach widget, we’ve introduced link and resource previews inside the embedded experience, including previews for NLx job posts where applicable. This makes embedded Coach feel more like a native part of your platform and reduces the need for learners to jump between multiple tabs just to explore opportunities or resources.
These improvements build on earlier widget customization work, so institutions can better align Coach with their brand and user journeys.
Link and resource previews are now offered in the Coach widget
Coming up next: Engagement, proactivity, and long-term progress
Looking ahead, we’re focused on features that help learners stick with their career journey and help institutions support progress over time:
Gamification: streaks and badges
Light-weight streaks and achievement badges to encourage regular check-ins and celebrate meaningful milestones, without turning Coach into a game.Proactive nudges via email and SMS
New options for Coach to send proactive reminders and nudges, so support doesn’t depend on learners remembering to come back on their own.Goal setting and personalized recommendations
Tools for learners to set goals inside Coach and receive tailored suggestions for activities, reflections, or job search steps.
That’s it for December. As always, these updates build on the groundwork from earlier releases and are shaped by feedback from partners and users across higher education and workforce development.
If you’d like to see these features in action or want to help us shape what comes next, including the NLx job search beta, schedule a demo and let’s talk.
