Coach Anywhere: Career Coaching, One Text Away

We’re excited to announce Coach Anywhere, a new way for learners and jobseekers to interact with Coach right from their phones. There’s nothing new to download and no account required to get started. Anyone can simply send a text message to Coach, and get free, expert-backed career guidance on the spot. 

Coach Anywhere is built on two core capabilities: 1) Two-way messaging with Coach, including photos, voice notes, documents, and links. 2) Coach can proactively follow up with learners with motivational nudges, specific reminders, or a helpful resources, so guidance is more likely to turn into action.

How It Works

Both existing Coach users and new learners can engage in a conversation with Coach through RCS/SMS (US) or WhatsApp (outside US), directly on their phones. 

  • Existing Coach users: Current account users are invited to begin chatting with Coach on SMS or WhatsApp. If a user has worked with Coach in the past on the web app, their account is connected, meaning Coach will be able to continue providing relevant support from where they left off, and history is saved. 

  • New users: Anyone can get started by simply messaging Coach’s number directly. No account setup is required to get guidance from Coach via text. If a learner chooses to, they can sign up for a full account and continue to engage in the web app. 

Beyond typing: send photos, voice notes, and more. 

With Coach Anywhere, learners can ask Coach questions about a job application, practice for an interview, and get advice, on the go. And they aren’t limited to just typing: Coach can understand links, photos, documents, and voice memos, all via text.  

  • Snap a flyer. A learner who sees a job fair flyer or a paper application can photograph it and ask, "How should I prepare for this opportunity?"

  • Talk it out. Instead of typing out a job experience worth mentioning, a learner can just record a quick voice note.

  • Get instant resume feedback. Learners can upload a resume as a PDF and get feedback on formatting and keywords right away.

  • Break down a job posting. A learner can drop in a link to a listing and ask Coach to walk through the qualifications.

Tailored follow-ups

With Coach Anywhere, learners get proactive reminders in a place they’re more likely to see them. And these reminders aren’t generic check-ins. Coach remembers  what a user is working on, whether it’s their resume, a job application, career path consideration, or an upcoming interview, and follows up at the right time, to keep that progress moving.

Why we built this

We designed Coach Anywhere to meet learners where they already default to: their phones. Learners are far more likely to actually see and act on something sent via text than email. Text messaging remains the channel where learners are most reachable, with SMS at a 98% open rate, compared to 28.6% for email.
