Coach Product Update: September 2025
More reliable completions, live job listings in beta, and deeper partner controls
This month we focused on making Coach smarter in how it tracks learner progress, more actionable with real-time job data, and more flexible for partners embedding the widget. These improvements mean better insights for institutions, a smoother experience for learners, and more options for integration.
Improved activity completion
We’ve introduced a new system for determining when an activity is complete, powered by prompting and LLM evaluation. Instead of relying on rigid rules, the system now qualitatively evaluates whether a learner’s interaction has met the mark. This makes activity completion data more meaningful and trustworthy, which in turn strengthens reporting and progress tracking.
The “Mark as done” button has also been redesigned to be more visible and intuitive, appearing when the system has marked an activity complete.

Cohort filters in the Admin Dashboard
Admins can now filter dashboards by cohort, making it easier to view outcomes for specific classes, sites, or program groups. This was one of the most requested features from partners, and it’s now live—making it simpler to track, compare, and report on program performance without the need for manual workarounds.
Live job posts in beta
Coach now pulls in live job postings through the National Labor Exchange (NLx), currently available in the Find a job to apply to (beta) activity. This is an exciting first step toward connecting career exploration directly to real opportunities, but the experience is still very much in beta: job specificity and quality are limited, and there are several issues we’re still working out.
If you or your learners want to try it, we’d love your feedback to help us improve this feature. (Note: it’s currently only available on the standalone platform, not in the widget.)

Widget updates
We also rolled out a series of enhancements for partners using the Coach widget:
Updated implementation guides – Now split into two versions: a technical guide for developers and a non-technical guide for PMs and designers.
White-label footer option – Partners can now choose whether to show or hide the “Powered by CareerVillage.org” footer.
Full color customization – Every widget color can now be adjusted for tighter brand alignment.
These updates reduce friction during setup, give partners more control over branding, and expand flexibility for different integration scenarios.
Widget partners can now remove CareerVillage.org branding and customize colors for every element.
Coming up next
We’re putting the finishing touches on:
In-app surveys – Built-in surveys that replace external links.
Chat memory improvements – More context retention, editable memory fields, and clearer user notifications.
Onboarding walkthrough – A guided tour to help new learners get oriented quickly.
That’s it for September! As always, these updates are shaped by partner feedback and our shared goal of scaling high-quality career guidance. Contact us to schedule a demo or to discuss your specific needs.
